The ‘rag and boning’ duo Steptoe and Son, who first came into being in 1962, are still on the go all these years later. And they’re coming to Galway next month.
Albert is still a dirty old man and Harold is as pretentious as ever in this comedy show that includes favourite moments from the smash hit BBC television series, being performed live on stage.
Steptoe & Son was first broadcast on TV in 1962, running for eight series and 57 episodes before it ended in 1974.
It starred the wonderful Harry H. Corbett and Wilfred Brambell, as the warring father and son, trying to cope with their ailing business and having to put up with each other along the way!
Cattle Productions Ltd has adapted the original episodes in a brand-new production, from director Dan Lewis.
The show has many hugely funny moments and has been attracting large audiences in the UK. Now Steptoe & Son Live is coming to Galway’s Town Hall Theatre on May 30, starting at 8pm.
All their shows contribute a percentage to local charities and so far they’ve raised nearly £20,000 for many great charities across the UK. On this occasion, they will be supporting Galway charity Hand In Hand which helps children suffering from cancer.
