State Pathologist to examine body found in search for missing Carraroe man

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A post mortem examination will be carried out this afternoon on the body of a man discovered in Clare as part of an investigation into a missing Carraroe man.
Gardaí have sealed off an area near the Cliffs of Moher where a forensic examination is taking place.
A man in his 40s was arrested in Galway earlier in connection with the disappearance of Adrian Folan.
Gardaí are also carrying out searches at the Headford road as part of the investigation.
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Adrian Folan believe he may have been murdered by a person well-known to him.
The 41-year-old was last seen alive in Athlone town around 20 to midnight last Thursday.
Detectives had been investigating whether his body had been dumped in the river Shannon outside Athlone following an assault.
However earlier today, Gardaí investigating Mr. Folan’s disappearance recovered a body in a quarry, 5 kilometres from Liscannor in Co. Clare.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the man’s body at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick by the State Pathologist, Dr. Marie Cassidy.
A Galway man in his 40s was arrested by Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Adrian Folan and he’s being held at Millstreet Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Work is underway to repair the traffic lights at University Hospital Galway

Repairs are now underway to repair the lights at University Hospital Galway.

An announcement on the Galway City Council Social Media Pages yesterday evening had advised motorists to expect delays and avoid the area if possible saying that transport and infrastructure staff were aiming to replace the lights by next Tuesday.

Galway Bay FM News now understands that the contractor is now at the lights but repairs are expected to take some time.

Visiting restrictions currently in place in Galway Clinic

Visiting restrictions have been put into place in The Blackrock Health Galway Clinic

The clinic confirmed to Galway Bay FM News this afternoon that due to the influx of seasonal flu and Covid-19 infection, visiting is restricted throughout the hospital.

This has been done to protect at-risk patients.

Visiting hours at the hospital are from 5.30pm to 7.30pm daily and only one visitor is permitted to attend per patient with a time limit of 15-20 minutes.

Speculation is rife in the United States that Marty Walsh is to leave politics

News is emerging from Washington that Marty Walsh, the son of Connemara emigrants, may shortly be leaving his position in the United States government to take up a powerful advocacy and administrative role in the National Hockey Association of America (NHLPA).

Walsh, a son of emigrants from Carna and Rosmuc, is the secretary for Labor Affairs in the US Government putting him in the eighth position behind the president.

He is also a former Mayor of the city of Boston.

He is also known to be a close personal friend of the president.

It is understood that all members of the player’s union board in the Hockey Association of the United States and Canada endorsed an effort yesterday to recruit Walsh to head their union.

According to sources close to Marty Walsh, details are being discussed.

In terms of money, the deal is very significant – running into millions of dollars per year according to some reports.

Walsh has been in conversation with President Biden in recent days.

It is all a big surprise but Marty Walsh may not be cutting all ties with politics. 

He would be coming back to Massachusetts where he could possibly contest a United States Senate seat in the future.
