GALWAY United look set to part ways with star player Moses Dyer who has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this week.
The New Zealander, who was sent off in Monday’s Connacht derby against Sligo at the Showgrounds, has reportedly attracted interest from numerous clubs, both in Ireland and further afield.
But there has been no confirmation of Dyer’s departure by Galway United ahead of tonight’s (Friday) Premier Division clash against Shelbourne at Eamonn Deacy Park (7:45pm).
Dyer has been an instant hit with United fans since joining the club at the start of the season with the striker already amassing ten goals, but after his red card against Sligo would have been ruled out of tonight’s game in any event.
Of course, none of this can distract from the clash against struggling Shels. The Dublin club made headlines themselves last weekend when manager Damien Duff decided to step down after difficult campaign to date. They are positioned fifth in the table, three points ahead of United and have won just three of their last ten games.
The sides have met on two previous occasions this season with matters finishing at 1-1 in March, when an own goal levelled matters for United, after the visitors had taken the lead through an Evan Caffrey header. It was another deadlocked scenario when the teams faced one another at Tolka Park in April.
Shels twice took the lead through Ellis Chapman and Odubeko, with Dyer responding on each occasion for the visitors. Matches between the sides are always competitive, with both teams winning their respective home games last season.
