Sinn Fein has not yet discussed supporting Galway West TD Catherine Connolly for the Presidency, according to one of its TDs.

The Independent Candidate has the support of opposition parties including the Social Democrats, People Before Profit and Labour.

Sinn Fein TD Darren O’Rourke says branch meetings have taken place around the country, to discuss a bid for the Áras.

He says it’s more likely they’ll have their own candidate or support someone else
