Sigmar seeking recruiters for Galway office

Galway Bay fm newsroom – New jobs at a Galway recruitment agency represent a double boost for the region.

That’s according to the CEO of the Sigmar group which is looking to hire 50 recruitment consultants at its Galway, Dublin and Cork offices.

Up to 5 of these jobs will be based at the city office on the Dock road which already employs 8 people.

The company recruits for Galway and the surrounding areas in all sectors including Business, IT and engineering.

Adrian McGuinness says more recruiters shows more jobs are coming on stream, and outlines the people Sigmar is looking to employ..

Meanwhile in Clare, 40 jobs have gotten the green light with the construction of café-restaurant, Zest, in Bunratty.

The jobs had been on the cards previously, but planning permission for Zest was stalled.

An Bord Pleanala has now given the go ahead to construction at the old Avoca site, with work set to begin early next year.

Spokesperson for parent company EFG Inflight Catering – Ean (pr: Ian) Malone says they have confidence in this investment.

New exhibition to represent female victims of domestic violence unveiled at ATU

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A new art exhibition, to represent women who have been victims of domestic abuse, was unveiled today at ATU Wellpark Campus.

The piece was commissioned by COPE Galway, and completed by artist Maura Finnegan.

The arts consists of seven women’s faces and below each one is a QR code which will lead people to an online link to the women’s stories.

Rachel Timoney attended today’s event.

The Indian Ambassador praises Galway during city visit

From Galway Bay fm newsroom- The Indian Ambassador has expressed his admiration for Galway during his visit for Asia Business Week.

Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra kicked off the week with a talk at ATU Galway today.

The ambassador complimented what he called a ‘synergy’ between Ireland and India.

Protest at County Hall over lack of engagement on Athlone-Galway Greenway

From Galway Bay fm newsroom- A protest has taken place at County Hall over an alleged lack of engagement with local residents on the planned Athlone to Galway Greenway.

A preferred route has emerged which goes from Athlone through Shannonbridge, Meelick, Portumna, Gort, Kinvara and into Galway City.

But local residents and landowners argue there’s been no meaningful engagement and they’re still “in the dark” about many aspects of the development.

At County Hall today, they carried banners with a wide range of slogans, including “No trust means no Greenway”.
