Three superb songwriters – Vincent Cross, Ruth Dillon, and Tom Portman – will take to the stage at Monroes Backroom Bar on Saturday, December 28, for an intimate Round Robin gig.

They are promising “a journey through heartfelt songs, lyrics and captivating melodies” in the intimate space.

Singer-songwriter Vincent Cross, who is based in New York, is known for his evocative storytelling and powerful performances that connect with listeners. He is also a fine guitarist and mandolin player, whose music reflects a deep connection to his Irish roots while also embracing diverse folk and Americana traditions.

Ruth Dillon who lives in Galway and is a member of folk-Americana group, The Raines, has won acclaim for her soulful voice and poignant songwriting, both as a solo performer and with the Raines. Ruth crafts lyrics that explore the intricacies of life, love and self-discovery. She is also a fine guitarist and will bring her various talents to bear on the night.

Tom Portman from Kinvara, who has won praise for his innovative approach to songwriting and music, is the third performer in this round robin. Tom is a master on guitar and dobro, who gives a modern twist to traditional and folk music as he creates his own original sounds.

The Round Robin format that they’re using is popular in Nashville and it will involve the three performers sitting on stage together, while each of them will perform a selection of their songs, interspersed with anecdotes, and stories behind the music.

The idea is that they will share songs and stories and take part in each other’s songs, creating a personal and unique evening’s entertainment.
