Scene sealed off in Clare in missing Carraroe man’s case
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Carraroe-native, Adrian Folan, have sealed off an area near the Cliffs of Moher.
A Galway man in his 40s was arrested in Galway this morning in connection with the disappearance of Adrian Folan and is being detained at Millstreet Garda station.
Gardaí are also carrying out searches at the Headford road as part of the investigation.
According to reports today, Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Adrian Folan believe he may have been murdered by a person well-known to him.
The 41-year-old was last seen alive in Athlone town around 20 to midnight last Thursday.
Detectives had been probing whether his body had been dumped in the river Shannon outside Athlone following an assault.
However this morning Gardaí investigating Mr. Folan’s disappearance recovered a body in a quarry, 5 kilometres from Liscannor in Co. Clare.
The body remains at the scene and officers are awaiting the arrival of the State Pathologist to conduct a preliminary examination.
A man in his 40s was arrested by Gardaí investigating the case in Galway city today.

Gardaí appeal for information for missing 25 year old Loughrea man

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardaí have issued an appeal for a 25 year old man missing from Loughrea.
Shane Walsh was last seen in Portumna on Wednesday 29th March.
Shane is described as around 6 foot tall, with brown shaved hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing dark denim jeans, a black hoody and a navy gilet.
Shane is believed to be travelling in an 11-G registered black Ford Focus.
Anyone with information on Shane’s whereabouts is asked to contact Loughrea Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda Station.

Junior Enterprise Minister to attend Furbo event to celebrate Gaeltacht women in business

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Junior Enterprise Minister Dara Calleary will attend an event in Furbo later today (mar 31) to celebrate Gaeltacht women in business.
The event will see pitching sessions and talks about growing a business in the Gaeltacht area.
The event is organised by Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Atlantic Technological University
Speakers will include Clifden native founder and CEO of CLS, Evelyn O’Toole.
It will take place at the Connemara Coast Hotel from 12:45 this afternoon

Motorists urged to avoid N84 as road remains closed following collision involving HGV

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Motorists are being urged to avoid the N84 this evening as the road remains closed, following a road traffic collision.
A HGV over-turned on the road between Regan’s Clonboo and McGaugh’s Garden Centre at around lunchtime.
Another vehicle was involved in the incident, and it’s understood while some injuries were reported, they’re not life threatening.
The road has been closed since lunchtime due to the need for a crane to remove the truck from the road.
Meanwhile, there was disruption on the N59 Galway to Clifden Road earlier this afternoon due to another road collision.
The incident saw the road reduced to a single lane for a time, but it’s since fully reopened, with minor injuries reported.
