An old farmhouse, and two farm outhouses on a prime half acre site in Bearna village has come to market – with a guide price of €600,000.
In ownership of the local Donnelly family for generations and over 120 years, the property for sale by private treaty is in the townland of Seapoint, on Pier Road.
It comprises a two-storey “country style residence” extending to approximately 147 square metres, with two outbuildings that were used for storage and agriculture, including chickens and hay.
It is opposite Reilig Bhearna (graveyard), and beside the car park of Donnelly’s of Bearna bar and seafood restaurant.
Shane McDonagh, of O’Donnellan and Joyce Auctioneers, who are handling the sale, confirmed to the Tribune the guide price was €600,000.
“There is strong interest from locals and nationwide developers,” Mr McDonagh said.
The property is connected to mains water, sewage, and electricity. The auctioneer said the buildings “may require refurbishment” but “they offer a significant opportunity to explore the development potential along with the remainder of the greenfield site”.
There is about 60m road frontage onto Pier Road, where the property is accessed.
The site is approximately 0.59 acres and is zoned ‘Town Centre’ in the Bearna Local Area Plan 2022-2028, which makes it suitable for residential and commercial.
O’Donnellan and Joyce described it as a “prime development opportunity in the heart of Bearna village”.
