This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9 Arch Claregalway Musical Society, and its members have been busy since August, rehearsing in Claregalway College for their upcoming show, the hit musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
With a cast of 50, this rock opera will run at the Town Hall Theatre from next Wednesday to Saturday, November 19-22.
This bold reimagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s iconic musical delves into the final days of Jesus of Nazareth, told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. With its pulsating score, thought-provoking lyrics and emotionally charged performances, Jesus Christ Superstar continues to resonate with audiences more than 50 years after its debut.
The 9 Arch Musical Society has assembled a cast full of talent. With quiet strength and powerful soaring vocals, Jamie Callanan will bring the role of Jesus to life. Keith Hanley will offer a complex and compelling portrayal of Judas, with the show’s intensity and drive being provided by his powerhouse vocals. Graceful and grounded, Hannah Wright will portray a tender Mary Magdalen.
Alongside them, the ensemble cast and live orchestra promise to bring the show’s timeless music – featuring hits like I Don’t Know How to Love Him and Gethsemane – to thrilling life.
The award-winning production team who will present their vision of this emotion-packed rock opera, are Alan Greaney (Director), Jay Molyneux (Choreographer), Shane Farrell (Musical Director) and Katie Feeney (Chorus Mistress).
For long-time fans of this musical or for those who are discovering it for the first time, Jesus Christ Superstar offers a gripping exploration of faith, fame and betrayal that feels as relevant today as ever.
Tickets are available on the Town Hall website, www.tht.ie, by phone at 091-569777, or from the box office.
