Inis Mór singer-songwriter Padraig Jack will mark the launch of his new single, On These Shores, with a concert in the city’s Róisín Dubh next weekend.
Written and composed by Padraig Jack, it features Aisling Jack Ní Fhlaithearta on backing vocals, Anthony Thistlethwaite on mandolin, Sean McKeown on uilleann pipes and whistle, Fergal Scahill on fiddle, Cathal Jack on bass and John Reynolds on percussion. John Reynolds also produced the track, which was mixed by Alex Borwick.
It’s the latest single from Padraig Jack’s new album which is due to be launched in October and follows the success of his debut, Making Sand, released in 2020.
On These Shores is haunting bilingual track that celebrates Irish culture and the country’s international influence, but acknowledges we are not without sin either and suggests it’s time to ‘forgive those who trespassed against us’ and ‘shape a new beginning’.
Padraig Jack Ó Flaithearta, who embraces Irish and English when it comes to writing lyrics, has music and poetry in his blood. His father is singer-songwriter Barry Ronan and his aunt is the Galway poet Mary O’Malley.
Making Sand received huge airplay and much praise on its release in 2020, with the title track being nominated for an RTÉ folk award.
Doors for his concert in the Róisín Dubh on Sunday, May 26, are at 8pm tickets are now available at , costing €20/18.
