From Galway Bay FM newsroom- Aldi is creating up to 82 new jobs in County Galway.
The supermarket currently has 9 stores across the county and is looking to recruit for up to 600 positions which will come on stream in stores across the country this year..
Over the next 3 years, 30 new supermarkets will be opened as part of a 320 million euro investment.
The company says it will also increase its hourly pay rates from February 1st, to reflect the Living Wage rate of 12 euro 90 per hour.
Galway woman named as new Network Ireland President
Galway Bay Fm Newsroom- Network Ireland, the women’s business group, has named Galway’s Noreen McKenzie as its National President for 2022 after the group’s AGM at the weekend.
The Ballaghaderreen native succeeds Waterford’s Aisling O’Neill and will be working with almost 1,200 members in 14 regional branches throughout the year.
Ms McKenzie is an associate director with Sherry Fitzgerald Financial Services and has worked in the broker market for over 20 years in sales and management roles.
She has extensive experience in the public, private and charity sectors. She first joined the Galway Branch of Network Ireland in 2015 and was Galway Branch President in 2017.
Her priorities for 2022 include reaching more women from diverse communities and backgrounds across the country.
COVID-19 vaccination pop-up clinic on GMIT Galway campus
Galway Bay FM Newsroom- Students are encouraged to avail of a COVID-19 vaccination Pop-up clinic on the GMIT Galway campus tomorrow (wednesday January 19)
The vaccination clinic opens tomorrow morning at 10, in Room 347 and will offer vaccines until 4pm.
The clinic is open to all students and staff members on a walk-in basis.
A photo ID is required for anyone seeking a vaccination, and a PPS number is needed for those getting their first dose.
GMIT Student President Colin Kearney says students who feel the need for vaccinations should make use of such services.
Údarás na Gaeltachta runs social media day to support rural businesses
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Údarás na Gaeltachta is assisting Digi2market to run a social media day to support rural businesses.
The social media campaign aims to to spread awareness about the people, services, and products behind rural businesses within and outside the Gaeltacht.
The campaign is on Twitter and Instagram tomorrow – a rural business can participate in the campaign by using the hashtag ruralbusiness or #gnotuaithe.
