Paying for parking has got a whole lot easier, with the launch of the ‘Galway City Parking’ app and online payment option.
Motorists can pay for on-street parking and Galway City Council car parks from the comfort of the driver’s seat using the free app, or they can pay online at www.GalwayCityParking.ie
They also still have the option to pay by phone on 0818 300 161, use the Payzone option in certain shops or pay with cash or card at the 90 on-street Park & Display machines.
There is no extra charge for paying for parking on the Galway City Parking app or at GalwayCityParking.ie and parking charges remain the same.
Patrick Greene, Director of Services, Galway City Council said: “The introduction of online and app payment makes it easier for motorists to pay for parking in Galway City. The move also reduces costs associated with cash collection and maintenance of equipment, delivering greater efficiencies to the local authority.
“Cash will still be accepted in 34 Payzone retail outlets in the city and at the 90 Pay and Display machines, as one of a range of options for paying for parking.
“The introduction of app and online parking payments is part of our Connecting Government 2030 programme, to provide more services online to the public.”
The new app and parking website are operated in partnership with ParkMagic and Payzone.
Kealan Fitzgerald, ParkMagic Product Manager at Payzone Ireland, said: “Our goal is to make parking as convenient and efficient as possible.”
Customers can pay for parking on a one-off basis, or as an account holder.
Customer Support will be available on 0818 300 161 or at Parking@Payzone.ie for any users having issues with payment or the app.
Further information and FAQs can be found at www.GalwayCityParking.ie
For existing Payzone or Park Magic app users, Galway City parking locations are now also available within those apps.
Regular pay-as-you-go or monthly fees will apply as usual.
Pictured at the launch of the Galway City Parking app and online payment solutions were Brendan Gallagher, Senior Executive Engineer, Galway City Council; Deputy Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Níall McNelis; Helen Kilroy, Director of Finance, GCC; Community Wardens Paul Quinn and Cailean Bailey; Aoife Ward, Payzone Marketing Manager; and Kealan Fitzgerald, ParkMagic Product Manager at Payzone Ireland.
