Galway City Tribune – A well-known Galway hotelier has drawn up plans for a new 84-bedroom hotel in an €11 million development at Victoria Place in the city centre.

Ricky Byrne has sought planning permission for the demolition of the former snooker club beside his Victoria Hotel and for the construction of a hotel with six floors of accommodation over ground floor and basement.

According to the leading hotelier, the development represents an investment of around €10.7 million and has the potential to create more than 100 full and part-time jobs.

“Our proposal is to provide 215 bed spaces in 84 en suite bedrooms on six floors of accommodation over ground floor and basement. This equates to an investment of roughly €10.7 million.

“This hotel will greatly boost the footfall in Victoria Place and help to bring pedestrian activity closer to the Docks area,” the application reads.
