Minor arrested in Tuam in counterfeit tickets investigation
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardaí in Galway are warning people to only buy concert and event tickets from authorised sources.
The advice follows the arrest of a male minor in Tuam earlier this week as part of an investigation into the sale of counterfeit concert tickets via the internet.
The young male was arrested when Gardaí stopped and searched a car in the Tuam area at 12.30 last Monday afternoon.
A number of counterfeit concert tickets were recovered and mobile phones were seized.
The juvenile was charged under Section 15 of the Criminal Justice Act 2001 and appeared in court in Tuam last Tuesday.
Gardaí are advising the public to be cautious when puchasing tickets with sales for a number of summer events this week and over the coming weeks.
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Motorists are being urged to avoid the N84 this evening as the road remains closed, following a road traffic collision.
A HGV over-turned on the road between Regan’s Clonboo and McGaugh’s Garden Centre at around lunchtime.
Another vehicle was involved in the incident, and it’s understood while some injuries were reported, they’re not life threatening.
The road has been closed since lunchtime due to the need for a crane to remove the truck from the road.
Meanwhile, there was disruption on the N59 Galway to Clifden Road earlier this afternoon due to another road collision.
The incident saw the road reduced to a single lane for a time, but it’s since fully reopened, with minor injuries reported.

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Plans for a luxury “habitable treehouse” overlooking Killary Fjord in North Connemara have been rejected.
The commercial treehouse would have been located on the grounds of the estate of the Killary Adventure Company.
It was billed as a luxury escape from normal life for guests – and would have accommodated up to four people.
But the plans have now been rejected by county planners, largely on environmental grounds.
They weren’t satisfied that the treehouse wouldn’t impact on nearby SAC’s – the Twelve Bens, Garraun Complex, Maumturk Mountains and Mweelrea/Sheeffry/Erriff Complex.
