Merger adds up for accountants

DHKN, the largest professional services firm in the west of Ireland with a staff of almost eighty, has announced that it has merged with Moore Ireland to create a new expanded entity in the mid-market accounting sector.

The new merged firm will immediately become the largest accounting firm in Ireland dedicated to supporting the mid-market economy with a combined team of over 240 professionals offering unparalleled strength and depth across all key service lines. The merger will enable clients from both firms to benefit from an expanded suite of professional services and expertise.

The firm’s roots in Galway stretch back to 1968 and it became DHKN as a result of the merger of Deacy Concannon & Co with Kitt Noone in 2003.

DHKN, with offices in Galway and Dublin, expanded rapidly to become a significant professional services provider in the West.

However, the professional services landscape is dynamic and changing rapidly, so this merger with Moore Ireland and its parent MKS in London, which has offices in Dublin, Cork and Belfast will help the Galway operation expand its service offering to clients in the West as well as across Ireland. The Galway operation has plans to grow to around 200 staff over the next few years.

“Coming together with DHKN repositions our overall presence, profile and standing in the mid-market segment of the Irish economy,” said Moore Ireland Managing Partner Ned Murphy.

Commenting on the merger, Mark Gibbs of DHKN said: “Together, we are excited to merge our strengths, solutions, and sector knowledge to bolster our offering to clients and the many ways we support them. The merger also brings enhanced systems and greater career opportunities for our colleagues.”

“By joining forces with Moore, we aim to become the number one adviser in the mid-market sector in Ireland”, he continued.

Stephen Crowley of DHKN added: “We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our former partners, our long-standing and current young, vibrant workforce for their efforts and dedication to DHKN over the last 21 years.”

“Equally, we are very grateful to our many clients who have remained loyal to and grown with DHKN over this period. Our partnership with Moore Ireland, Moore Kingston Smith in London and Belfast, as well as the wider international Moore network will provide us with a platform to further drive our growth and success into the future”.
