MEASURES TO STOP ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR IS AREA OF SALTHILL

Published

on

PLANS to improve the public lighting along Lenaboy Avenue in Salthill could help deal with with anti social behaviour in the area according to a member of the city council.

The improved public lighting is expected to be in place by the end of this month according to a letter to a number of City Councillors from Galway City Council.

The letter was sent to Councillors Niall McNelis, Catherine Connolly, Donal Lyons, Hildegarde Naughton and Peter Keane.

Cllr Mc Nelis says the move comes following representations from all the local elected representatives from the west ward of the City Council on behalf of the residents and it will help with anti social behaviour in the area.

He added that it is also the wish of the residents, and the councillors, that policing is stepped up in Salthill to target youth street drinking.

Cllr McNelis says Salthill is a unique area attracting tourists to the city but the business community needs support to make it more family friendly all year round, and as a residential area there is also a need to make residents feel happy and safe in there homes and surroundings.
