Mayor of Galway Terry O’ Flaherty says she is broadly in support of city council providing funds for Galway airport.
A special meeting of the city council takes place this afternoon to discuss the prospect of allocating 50 thousand euro to the Carnmore facility.
Last month, Galway county council passed a motion to provide 50 thousand euro from its budget on the premise certain conditions are met.
By February 28th, Galway City Council must provide 50 thousand euro, the Department of Transport must allocate 100 thousand euro, and the airport’s commercial interests need to generate 500 thousand.
Councillors will convene at City Hall on College road at 4pm for a discussion and a possible vote on the motion.
Mayor Terry O’ Flaherty says she can’t presume the outcome of the meeting this afternoon, but is personally in support of the allocation.
