Man due in court over Clifden road crash
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A man is to appear before Castlerea District Court today following a road crash near Clifden last night.
The incident occured on the N59 at Goulane shortly before 11pm and involved two cars.
It’s believed the collision occured when one of the vehicles was on the wrong side of the road approaching a bend.
Four occupants of one of the cars, believed to be foreign nationals, were brought to University Hospital Galway, but their injuries are not life threatening.
The driver of the other car, a French national, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and will appear in court today.

The launch will take place in Easons in Shop Street at 2pm.

Over 33,000 families in Galway are to benefit from a €100 increase in Child Benefit payments this week.

Over 33,000 families in Galway city and county are to benefit from a €100 increase in Child Benefit payments this week.
The additional €100 per child in payments as announced by Minister Heather Humphries will be paid tomorrow to assist families with the Cost of Living.
This means that €240 will be paid per child.
This announcement by the minister has been welcomed by Ballinasloe Senator Aisling Dolan who says that this can be a difficult time of the year for parents.

Free event in city to showcase how to recycle food waste

Galway County Council is hosting a free event in the city tomorrow to help people understand how to recycle food waste
The educational event is open to all and will be held on Shop Street from 11am to 4pm
It’s being held in conjunction with National Food Waste Recycling Week, which runs until Friday.
Pauline McDonagh, Circular Economy Co-ordinator of the Southern Waste Region outlines what will be involved.
