Luminosa set to present Unfolding concert series

Galway’s professional string orchestra, Luminosa, will be performing at the city’s St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Friday, March 24, and will be making their debut in Cork’s School of Music the previous night, March 23.
These concerts will mark the opening of their 2023 concert season, Unfolding. The orchestra will be led by Bogdan Sofei, conducted by Sinéad Hayes and with soloist Andreea Banciu.
Unfolding will feature music written out of adversity, bringing the colour and triumph of the human spirit to life. Work being featured on March 24 will include Pavel Haas – Study for Strings (1943), George Walker – Lyric for Strings (1922), Herbert Howells – Elegy for Viola, string quartet and string orchestra, with soloist Andreea Banciu (1917), Jane O’Leary – Strings in the air, songs in the stones (2022) ,Dmitri Shostakovich – Chamber Symphony in C Minor Op. 110a (1967).
