Lift repairs begin at Athenry Station
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The long awaited repair works for the lifts at Athenry Station are underway.
Due to a major mechanical fault, the lifts have been out of service for a number of months.
Irish Rail says the lifts are expected to be fully operational again by the end of July, to facilitate mobility impaired customers and customers with buggies and luggage.

Steps taken for the addition of a Sensory Garden in Loughrea

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A local councillor is seeking to develop a Sensory Garden at the Long Point in Loughrea.
The outdoor amenity can help improve physical fitness, health, mood and cognition.
Councillor Geraldine Donohue thinks now is the time to consider adding one to Loughrea, as part of the “Vision of the Enhancement of the Long Point”.
Cllr Donohue says people in the community have been asking for this amenity for quite some time:

ATU Galway lodges plans for new monument dedicated to deceased students

Galway Bay fm newsroom – ATU Galway is planning to develop a new monument dedicated to deceased students of the college.
The university has requested permission to develop a new sculptural stone monument incorporating a memorial wall at its Dublin Road campus.
The proposed memorial will replace an existing memorial on site.
A decision on the plans is due at the beginning of May.
