Comedian Anne Gildea will return to Galway’s Town Hall Theatre on Friday, September 1, with her hit show, How to Get the Menopause and Enjoy It. This follows its successful outing in the same venue last October.
How to Get the Menopause and Enjoy It premiered in February 2022, in The Viking Theatre, Clontarf, and originally had a two-week run. The show proved so popular that the run was extended to six weeks.
And it continued to appeal. Last year Anne performed it 62 times in 28 venues, across Ireland, entertaining more than 10,000 comedy fans in what was one of the most successful independent shows of recent years.
How to Get the Menopause and Enjoy It is also touring to London and Luxembourg in 2023.
It manages to be both hilarious and informative, as Anne brings her keen comedic skills to a topic that affects 51% of the population yet has long been treated as a mystery.
She poses and answers a range of questions including: “What is it? Why does it happen? Why is it named after men? Why didn’t our mammies warn us about it? Is there anything you can do about it? And why, oh why, is so little known about this inevitable phase of lady-life?”
