Lackagh Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ) had an unforgettable week at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford, with many of its members competing on the national stage.
Among the standout moments of the weekend were the céilí band competitions, where the U-12 Lackagh Céilí Band delighted everyone by winning their competition for the second consecutive year.
Other notable achievements included the U-12 Grúpa Ceoil Cnoc Dua, which secured second place in their competition, and the U-15 Grúpa Ceoil Carraig Mór, who took third place.
In the U-12 solo competitions, Siún Ó’Mahoney took second place in both the U-12 Fiddle and U-12 Fiddle Slow Airs competitions, as well as another second place in the U-12 Miscellaneous category. Padraic Ó Briain earned third place in the U-12 Flute, while Abigail Kelly shone with a first place finish in U-12 Piano and third place in Accompaniment.
Saorla Gilmore achieved third place in the U-12 Concertina and second place in Céilí Drums, with Mark Kelly securing second place in the Mandolin category.
Moving up to the U-15 competitions, Rachel Kelly won first place in Piano and third in Fiddle.
Conall D’Arcy clinched first place in U-15 Accompaniment and second in Piano.
John Elwood took third place in U-15 Miscellaneous, while Nicole McLaughin also earned third place in the U18 Concertina. Clodagh Crowley won the U18 Whistling Competition, and Emmet Greaney took third place in the Senior Mandolin competition.
In duet and trio competitions, Anna Finlay and Saorla Gilmore delivered a memorable performance, winning first place in the U-12 Duet category, with Mark and Abigail Kelly taking second. Meanwhile, Orna McCormack, Conall D’Arcy, and John Elwood earned third place in the U-15 Trio category.
Overall, it was a highly successful weekend for Lackagh Comhaltas. The branch has extended heartfelt gratitude to its dedicated teachers for their talent and unwavering commitment in mentoring the Lackagh groups and bands.
