In Profile: Caroline Downey

Tuam native Caroline Downey is the incoming National President of BPW (Business and Professional Women’s Club).

After completing a diploma in Business Studies at GMIT, she moved to Dublin to work in Eircom and complete her Marketing and PR degree in DIT, and a passion for fashion led to a diploma in Fashion Styling in Limperts Academy Dublin.

Having spent 10 years in Dublin and meeting her now husband Barry, Caroline is back in Tuam working as Business Development Manager H and A Marketing and PR, one of Ireland’s leading marketing and communications agencies based in Oranmore. She is the current president of BPW Tuam – who stage the Ultimate Pre Christmas Fashion and Image event this Friday night in the Corralea Court Hotel in Tuam at 7.30pm.

Her husband, Dubliner Barry Downey, is the current manager of the Galway senior ladies football team. She is proud of her new little boy Zack, only six months old, and her step children Tadhg and Shauna who call on a regular basis as they live in Carlow.

Greatest achievement?

Sounds corny but being a mom, Zack is just amazing.

Favourite time of year?

Christmas . . . it has to be Christmas. I love snuggling up at home with my family, candles lit, Christmas tree lighting up the room and a nice glass of red wine in front of the box and it makes it all the better with a blanket of snow outside.

Your happiest memory?

My wedding day . . . walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my husband-to-be waiting for me.
