Janey Mac is Hot (Blame the Hormones), an improvised comedy inspired by one woman’s perimenopause experience, comes to Galway next Friday, June 20. The hour-long show from writer and comedian Jane McKeever will be staged at the city’s Town Hall Theatre studio, starting at 8.30pm.
The show had its debut at Belfast’s Incubate Festival in March 2024, when it sold out and since then, Jane has performed it in other venues in Belfast, as well as taking part in events focusing on menopause.
Hilarious, heartfelt and with a fresh performance for every show, this inventive, witty work presents funny characters and unexpected moments that Janey doesn’t see coming as she spins her perimenopause journey into comedy gold. It’s a joyful, uplifting and laugh-out-loud reminder that people don’t need to have it all figured out to show up, take risks and share our stories.
Belfast-born Janey Mac (aka Jane McKeever) is a writer and, more recently, a stand-up comedian and improviser, having taken a course in stand-up comedy in her late 30s because she wanted do something that scared her. That leap led to improv stages in London, Chicago’s iO Theatre and eventually back home to Belfast. Jane writes, performs and creates original work, inspired by her passion to live life as fully as possible.
Janey Mac is Hot (Blame the Hormones) was developed with Tinderbox Theatre, supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Tickets, €15/1250, plus €1 booking fee are available at tht.ie, 091-569777 and from the box office.
