Home care company aims to create 20 new Galway jobs

Published

on

Home Instead Senior Care has announced that 20 new jobs are to be created in Galway City and County as it increases its CAREGiver roles.

The company will hold a recruitment open day in its Galway offices next Wednesday, June 11, to educate local CAREGivers about the company and the available roles. All Home Instead CAREGivers are employed directly by the local office and go through a stringent recruitment process which includes interviews, reference checks, Garda vetting and a comprehensive induction training programme.

Applications are welcome from people qualified to Fetac Level 5 and also from those who have first-hand experience in a caring role having perhaps cared for a loved one.

Home Instead Senior Care has also invested in a new recruitment campaign that uses traditional “matchmaking” skills to help create a compatible and lasting relationship between the professional CAREGiver and the person they care for.

By actively trying to match their clients with professional CAREGivers who have similar interests and hobbies, the organisation is creating a more personal, and relationship-based home care service where the focus is placed more on the individual rather than the basic home care tasks.

The Home Instead, “Perfect Match”, campaign is based on feedback from Home Instead clients and their family members who expressed a desire for a more personal relationship with their professional CAREGiver. Colman Gately, Owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Galway said:

“A client – CAREGiver relationship is a long-term commitment and if the client is not completely content we will substitute the CAREGiver. If we want to help older people live at home and maintain their independence, we have to be sensitive to the personal aspects of the client-CAREGiver relationship and make sure the right CAREGiver has been selected. To us, home care is personal.”

With networking, PR, web and advertising efforts supporting the recruitment campaign, it is expected that a total of 250 CAREGiver roles will be filled throughout Ireland. Home Instead Senior Care employs 2,500 Professional CAREGivers and cares for 3,000 people annually.

The Open Day will take place from 10am to 4pm at the Home Instead Senior Care’s Galway Offices in the Racecourse Business Park, Suite 4, Parkmore, Galway on Wednesday week.

Managers in Galway companies who would like to learn how they could put artificial intelligence (AI) to work for their organisations are being encouraged to sign up for a new course.

It comes as research found that 50% of organisations around the world have adopted AI in at least one function, while 79% of organisations are also exploring or piloting AI projects.

Of those companies who have implemented AI, 63% report revenue increases in the relevant business units.

The new Artificial Intelligence for Managers postgraduate certificate is being offered by NUI Galway to those who wish to get a better understanding of AI and its implications for business and enterprises.

Participants do not need to have any coding skills; this non-technical programme will focus instead on the strategic use of AI and how businesses and management can approach the practical implementation of AI technologies within their company. Candidates will learn about the practicalities necessary for successful AI adoption including data and skills requirements, ethics and legal issues. As such the programme would suit those in management positions in sectors like telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biomedical, finance, marketing, automotive and more.

Glenamaddy site goes green

Published

Green initiative…Peter Flanagan, Site Manager and John McDermott, Procurement Manager at Kingspan.

Kingspan Water & Energy in Glenamaddy is the first manufacturing plant within Kingspan’s global network of 166 manufacturing sites to have its manufacturing process completely powered by renewable energy, following the installation of BioLPG.

Following the July installation of BioLPG, the Glenamaddy site is now 100% powered by renewable energy, closely followed by Kingspan’s manufacturing plant in Aston Clinton, England, which has also reached this milestone.

The move to renewable energy has been a gradual transition over the past five years, following the introduction of renewable electricity to Kingspan Glenamaddy in 2016.

This accomplishment is aligned to the Group’s ground-breaking Planet Passionate sustainability objectives and helps Kingspan to move closer to its ambitious goal of achieving net zero carbon manufacturing* across the business by 2030.

Kingspan Glenamaddy manufactures storage solutions for numerous sectors including agri, water, domestic as well as specialist custom tanks as part of Kingspan’s Water & Energy Division.

“Over the past five years, the introduction of renewable electricity to our Glenamaddy site has delivered a significant reduction in our carbon emissions,” said Peter Flanagan, Site Manager at Kingspan Water & Energy in Glenamaddy.
