Mark O’Rowe’s ensemble family drama, Reunion, which had its world premiere at last year’s Galway International Arts Festival, is being revived this September, when it will receive its London premiere. That will be followed by a two-week run at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre. Tickets for the Gaiety, where it runs from October 21 to November 2, go on sale this Friday, May 2, at 10am.

Reunion, a co-production between Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival, went on to be staged in the Gaiety last year following its premiere in Galway’s Black Box in July.

Both venues sold out in record time, and many people were unable to get tickets for this drama in which a family gathers for a celebration on an island off Ireland’s west coast. However, tensions begin to emerge when an unexpected visitor calls in. Over the next 24 hours, scores are settled, beliefs challenged and truths disclosed.

The critics lauded both the play and performances, and while Cathy Belton, Valene Kane and Robert Sheehan aren’t available for this revival, the cast will include most of the original actors, who are some of Ireland’s finest. Ian-Lloyd Anderson, Venetia Bowe, Stephen Brennan, Leonard Buckley, Simone Collins, Peter Corboy, Desmond Eastwood, Kate Gilmore and Catherine Walker are involved, with one further cast member yet to be announced. That will be done in the coming weeks.

The Gaiety run of Reunion will follow its London premiere, when it will run at the Kiln Theatre (formerly the Tricycle) from September 11 to October 11, much to the delight of the playwright, who also directed it.

“The Kiln is such a beautiful, intimate space, and I can’t wait to see how the show plays there before we return to the joyful expanse of the Gaiety Theatre, and hopefully beyond,” said Mark O’Rowe, who also wrote Howie the Rookie, Intermission and Our Few and Evil Days.

Tickets for the Dublin run of Reunion are available at the Gaiety Theatre Box Office South King Street, Dublin 2. Monday to Friday 11pm-6pm. They can also be booked on http://ticketmaster.ie, where service charges will apply per ticket.
