Go ahead to open Hillbillys restaurant in former city bank

Published

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A former bank in the heart of the city is to be transformed into a restaurant, despite objections.

BEB Practical Partnership Limited has been given the go-ahead by An Bord Pleanála for a Hillbillys restaurant and takeaway at the former National Irish Bank in Eyre Square.

Planning permission was initially granted for the Hillbillys fried chicken restaurant in Eyre Square by the City Council late last year.

However the developers appealed a condition of the planning to An Bord Pleanála, while separate objections were lodged to the development also.

An Bord Pleanála is allowing the Hillbillys restaurant development to go ahead in Eyre Square subject to 12 conditions.

One of these conditions states that it may open as a sit-in restaurant but can’t operate as a takeaway.
