Noel Grealish (Ind) has increased his lead over Noel Thomas (Ind Ire) after the fifteenth count, as the duo battle it out for the final seat in Galway West

Grealish benefitted most from the surplus of Fianna Fáil’s John Connolly, who was elected to the third seat on the fourteenth count.

The Carnmore man took 364, versus 288 for Thomas.

The gap is now 659 and is unlikely to be bridged when Hildegarde Naughton’s surplus of 895 is distributed in the next count, which commenced at 2.15 on Monday morning.

Grealish is expected to join Mairéad Farrell (SF), Catherine Connolly (Ind), John Connolly (FF) and Hildegarde Naughton (FG) in the 34^th Dáil.
