Galway firm The Learning Reservoir, which upskills manufacturing teams through tailored eLearning, has been selected to showcase Irish tech innovation at Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon.
The Learning Reservoir is one of 36 Irish startups being highlighted globally by Web Summit — the world’s biggest tech events business — at its flagship technology gathering in the Portuguese capital next week.
The Learning Reservoir has been recognised for its potential to shape the future of technology and innovation —and to help build a future wave of home-grown tech firms which will ensure jobs and prosperity for the region.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our work on an international stage and connect with potential partners, investors, and other leaders in the tech industry,” said Dr Fiona Masterson from Galway, Founder of The Learning Reservoir.
“Attending Web Summit will allow us to gain invaluable exposure, expand our network, and learn from global innovators pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in technology — as well as potentially winning new customers, securing investment or creating business partnerships.”
More than 70,000 attendees, 3,000 startups and 500 investors from around the world will attend the Lisbon event, which sees many attending startups secure international contracts, investment or business partnerships.
As part of the Irish Startup Network initiative, The Learning Reservoir will receive a complimentary startup package to exhibit at Web Summit Lisbon, including full access to the three-day event, as well as an exclusive space on the event floor and dedicated pre-event support to get the most out of the experience.
Fiona Masterson has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and over 20 years in the life sciences and manufacturing industry. The Learning Reservoir was born out of her passion for education and training and her desire to bridge the skills gap in the manufacturing industries, especially among women, with inclusive, accessible e-learning.
“Life sciences, manufacturing, medtech, pharma, food and drinks – all of those industries have a lot of regulatory requirements,” said Fiona. “Staff have to have certain training and you can literally be stopped from selling your product if you don’t have it.
“I see a huge skills gap and a need at the moment as the technology changes rapidly, you need to be able to upskill your staff very quickly so I developed The Learning Reservoir to meet that need.”
“I enjoy the buzz of being female in a manufacturing setting and I especially want to show women, through education, that they’re well able to achieve careers in these often male-dominated sectors, and with the right training and work ethic they can succeed.”
