Irish economic migrants
A wide scheme of publicity work is at present being undertaken to lure Irish emigrants to Canada. In addition to the fifteen dollars which British or Irish emigrants obtain on landing, the Cunard line is making special provision for special organised parties to travel by the Antonia from Southampton on March 27 and the Athenia from Liverpool on April 24, and attractive booklets are being broadcasted.
What is our own Government going to do to see that this campaign is countered and that we are able to keep the best of our boys and girls at home?
It will, no doubt, answer that but for the irregular campaign, it could do much. But we do face conditions as they are; and though the task may be difficult, people and Government must cooperate by hard thinking and hard work to maintain the Irish in some degree of prosperity in their own land.
