Galway will get a second big top this July, when Welsh circus company NoFit State will bring its show Sabotage to town for the Galway International Arts Festival.
As befits a show with the name Sabotage, the company’s promise is: ‘No Ringmaster. No Rules. Just Pure Mayhem.’
NoFit State, which was founded in 1986 by five friends, during a recession, is the UK’s leading large-scale contemporary circus company. As well as creating professional touring productions, it offers community-based training and education projects for people of all ages.
Sabotage, billed as “boisterous, audacious and sexy”, has had sold-out runs in New York, Edinburgh and London, and recently at Salzburg’s WinterFest and Marseille, at the Biennale Internationale des arts du Cirque.
This “breath-taking, spectacular, roller-coaster ride of jaw-dropping circus skills, aerial feats, live music and stunning imagery,” is directed by Firenza Guidi, with original music by David Murray.
Sabotage will be staged in the NoFit State Big Top, at the city’s Nimmo’s Pier from July 11-27 at 8pm. There will be matinees on Saturday July 12, July 19 and July 26, at 1pm and on Sunday, July 13, July 20 and July 27. There will be no evening performances on the Sunday dates and no shows on Tuesday, July 15, or Monday, July 21.
Tickets are now on sale for Sabotage and all festival events. For the full programme, go to giaf.ie.
