Galway Gardaí seize more than €100,000 worth of goods in Ballybane raid

Galway Gardaí seized over €55,000 worth of tobacco and cigarettes as well as over €50,000 of counterfeit electronic goods in searches of a residential premises and vehicles on the east side of the city last week.
Gardaí attached to the Community Policing Unit in Galway Garda Station carried out a series of search in the Ballybane area last Thursday.
A large quantity of fireworks and of counterfeit designer clothing was also seized as part of Operation Tombola.
A man, aged in his fifties, was arrested in connection in this seizure. He was later released from custody, and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
Operation Tombola specifically targets the illegal sale fireworks as Halloween approaches, while also highlighting the legislation which prevents the possession of unlicensed fireworks.
