The panic of a ‘low battery’ warning on your phone could become a thing of the past thanks to the innovative thinking of a Galway man whose new product is taking the technology world by storm.
Castlegar’s Pádraic Connolly recently launched Swippitt – an ‘instant power system’ which provides users with a fully charged battery in seconds.
Eliminating the need for a wired charger or power bank, Swippitt provides a specially designed ‘Link’ case – described by Pádraic as being similar in size to an Otterbox – and it’s inside the toaster-sized Swippitt Hub where the magic happens.
It contains five batteries that can be swapped with a spent battery almost instantly by placing the phone into the top of the hub – in seconds, you’ll have a fully charged battery.
“I worked really hard to make it simply for the consumer,” Pádraic tells the Tribune on the phone from New York where, such is the interest in this product, he has been doing the media rounds, having launched Swippitt at the CES tech show in Las Vegas where it secured a position in the ‘Top 10 best new devices’.
Work started developing this revolutionary device three years ago, explains Pádraic, who has always had a flair for invention.
“I was always messing with stuff – pulling things apart and putting them back together. Building a tabletop dishwasher was one of my things,” he recalls.
