Candidates in Galway East will have to wait a while longer for the first count as a full recount has got underway.
In the last few minutes, count staff at Presentation College, Headford, were instructed to recount all votes – the first count had been expected at around 6pm.
County Councillor Albert Dolan (FF) is expected to top the poll, with sitting TD Seán Canney not far behind.
