With 96 of 169 boxes in Galway East tallied, Seán Canney (Ind) looks set to top the poll – while Albert Dolan (FF) is on course to take a seat.
Outgoing TD Canney is topping the poll on 25% while County Councillor Dolan is in second place on 15%.
Sinn Féin’s Louis O’Hara is polling well with 14%, while Fine Gael’s Pete Roche is on 10% – both well in contention for seats three and four.
Outgoing Minister Anne Rabbitte (FF) looks like she will struggle to hold her seat, currently on 7%.
Monivea boxes are yet to be tallied, which will provide a further boost for Dolan as his home area – which had one of the highest turnouts in the county – is likely to back him strongly.
Independent Ireland’s Declan Geraghty is on 6.5%; Clodagh Higgins (FG) is on 5.7%; and Niamh Madden (FG) is polling at 5.6%.
