His day job is to break the big sports stories – but by night, Galway-born broadcaster Paul Walsh dons a very different jersey…making sweet music under his pseudonym, Pink Rabbits.
And it’s as Pink Rabbits – the name comes from one of American band the National’s most iconic songs – that the Clonbur man is making headlines of his own just now, with the release of his debut album. this weekend
Formerly a broadcaster with Virgin TV, he has since jumped ship to RTÉ, but his passion for music predates his small screen day-job – and the fruits of his labours are evident on all twelve tracks of To Be Loved, which will be officially released this Friday.
Walsh has been steadily building towards this release, working on the album since his debut single in 2021, and he played a headline show upstairs in Whelans earlier this summer to mark the release of his most recent single, Let It Go.
“It’s been something I’ve been working on for a few years now and I’m feeling both relieved and delighted to be able to finally present it to the world to listen to!” he says.
“I feel it deals with themes that everyone can relate to – love, loss, joy, sadness and I think there’s a song for everyone on this record”.
