An ‘Oscar’ winged its way to Ballinasloe at the weekend after four-year-old Aidan Kenny and his family scooped the gong for Best Drama Movie at the annual LauraLynn Children’s Hospice awards.
Aidan, who avails of LauraLynn’s care and supports, starred alongside his family in a drama filled movie based around a plan to ban the cutting of turf.
When a quick decision is made to ban the cutting of turf, a family swoop into action to try to gather their plot before midnight. All seems lost and unreachable until a man with a very ambitious plan appears.
Last Saturday, the Kennys, who are from Creagh, were among six families who stepped onto the Red Carpet at the Odeon Cinema in Charlestown, Dublin, for the LauraLynn Oscars.
Now in its fifth year, the event was bigger and better than ever and rounded off Palliative Care Week on a high. The Oscars is a ‘digital storytelling’ children’s hospice initiative that provides children with life-limiting conditions and their families a platform to create their own unique story.
It culminates in a glamorous red-carpet event, offering a once-in-lifetime, genuine, cinematic experience for the entire family.
