Former Labour candidate Fergal Landy has announced he will contest the Galway East constituency as an Independent.
He says there’s been no falling out with the party, but on this occasion it just wasn’t possible to run as a party candidate.
Fergal Landy, who’s based in Oranmore, has a background in community development, social work and human rights
He contested the recent local elections in Athenry/Oranmore for Labour, but was eliminated in the early counts.
Mr. Landy also contested the recent European Elections for Labour, but was again eliminated in the early stages.
