Galway hurling fans have several attractive home fixtures to look forward to in next year’s Leinster Championship.
Starting off against title holders Kilkenny at Pearse Stadium on April 18/19, the Tribesmen will also host Offaly and Dublin in the round-robin series. Away fixtures will see Galway face Joe McDonagh Cup winners, Kildare, and Wexford.
That fixtures schedule enhances the prospects of Micheal Donoghue’s squad reaching another provincial final and the probable opportunity of trying to stop the Cats from claiming a seventh consecutive provincial crown.
There is the small matter of the National League before that, which starts with an away fixture against All-Ireland champions Tipperary on the last weekend of January. Galway’s subsequent sequence of match are: Cork (home); Offaly (away); Waterford (home); Kilkenny (home), and Limerick (away).
Meanwhile, the county’s senior Gaelic footballers will begin their National league campaign in January with a home derby against Mayo on the weekend of January 24/25.
Padraic Joyce’s side will also have home games against Roscommon (February 21/22) and Dublin (March 21/22), which is the final weekend of group games; while they will be on the road for meetings with Armagh (January 31/February 1), Kerry (February 14/15), Donegal (February 28/March 1), and Monaghan (March 14/15).
The draw for the 2026 provincial senior championships is set to be made on Thursday, November 27 at Croke Park. Roscommon already know that they will face New York in the quarter-finals, with Mayo due to face London.
Galway, Leitrim, and Sligo will be the first name sin the hat, with two of those sides to be drawn together for another quarter-final, with the remaining side going straight into the semi-finals.
