Opel Combo-e Cargo

With numbers of electric cars on the increase by the day it is inevitable that electric vans would follow. Already there are a number on our streets and it makes sense that van owners and fleet managers would seriously consider them.

Opel is the latest brand to highlight their newest 100% electric van, the Opel Combo-e light commercial vehicle. Joining its Combo petrol and diesel engine siblings the zero-emission compact van does everything that the others do and has the same space for cargo.

Boasting a range of up to 275km from a single charge, the new Combo-e offers up to 4.4m3 cargo space and 800kg payload and is available in two lengths.

The 4.40m long Combo-e, which has the shorter wheelbase of 2,785mm and can carry objects up to 3,090mm long, offers payloads of up to 800kg and cargo volumes of 3.3 to 3.8m3. It has a towing capacity of 750kg.

The 4.75m extra-long XL-variant has a wheelbase of 2,975mm and a cargo volume of up to 4.4m3 that can accommodate objects up to 3,440mm in length. Six tie rings on the floor (with the option of four more at mid-height) help keep everything in its place.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.

Hyundai Ireland is celebrating confirmation that the new Hyundai Tucson has regained its position as Ireland’s best-selling car.

Proving an instant hit since its arrival in December, the company says sales in January show the new Hyundai Tucson with a clear lead ahead of the second placed model.

Diesel remains very popular for buyers of the Tucson at 1,094 units of the total models sold in January but sales of the new Hybrid version is making an impact at 494 units.

“We are delighted to see the Tucson back at number one in the market, key to its success is its striking new design but also the ability of our dealer network to give honest advice to consumers as to the correct engine type for them,” said Stephen Gleeson, managing director at Hyundai Ireland

“Our overall market share performance (2,731 units – 10.84% of the market) is also satisfying given we are still waiting on deliveries of the all-New Santa Fe 7-seat PHEV, as well as supplies of the all new i20.”

Hyundai Ireland can confirm that despite current restrictions, the Hyundai dealer network is providing a full Click & Deliver sales service. For full details on how Click & Deliver works, log on to www.hyundai.ie.

The Peugeot e-Partner.

Since its launch in 1996, the Peugeot Partner has been bought by more than two million customers in 100 countries. It has also won numerous awards including the International Van of The Year title in 2019.

It was the best-selling light commercial van in Ireland last year, capturing 6.91% share of the LCV market. Sales of the vehicle in January 2021 increased by 30% compared to January 2020, translating into an LCV market share of 10.63% month to date.

The model will soon be available with 100% electric power called e- Partner. Based on the platform as the regular Partner, the Peugeot e-Partner runs on a 100% electric engine with a maximum power of 100 kW and a maximum torque of 260Nm available from the start for immediate reactivity, without vibration, noise, gear shifting, odour, or CO2 emissions.

The electric drive train (electric motor, inverter and DC/AC charger-converter) is similar to the new Peugeot e-Expert. Much like the latter, the speed reducer has been adapted in order to fulfil the loading constraints inherent to the use of utility vehicles.

There are two body length and both versions (Standard and Long) are available with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 50 kWh, which provides a range of up to 275 km depending on the version, on driving profile.

Two types of on-board chargers are available to suit all uses and all customer charging solutions, with a 7.4 kW single-phase charger as standard and an optional 11 kW three-phase charger.

The charging socket, located on the left rear fender, means that the vehicle can be charged in from a standard socket, a reinforced socket or with a Wall Box and even on a quick charger.
