FARMERS have been reminded of ‘two important opportunities’ to make corrections – without penalty – on their Basic Payment applications and the Area Monitoring System.
A deadline date of Friday, June 21, applies for corrections that may need to be made in relation to the Basic Payments BISS (Basic Income Support for Sustainability).
This applies where farmers have received notification of preliminary checks on their BISS applications in relation to any overclaims, overlaps or dual claims.
In these instances, the Department of Agriculture will notify farmers if they find an error on their 2024 BISS application.
“Where a farmer or advisor receives a preliminary check notification, they should log on to www.agfood.ie and respond before the deadline of 21 June 2024,” the Department advises.
The second ‘penalty free’ correction process applies to the Area Monitoring System (AMS) which began on Thursday last, June 6.
In those checks – which will only apply to a minority of farmers each year – the Department will identify possible areas which should not have been included in the land parcel applications.
Examples of this, according to the Department, could be buildings, farmyard extensions and farm roadways which have been inadvertently included with the land parcels applied for.
In the AMS corrections process, farmers who have been contacted by the Department, will have until Thursday, June 20, to respond to those notifications.
