Since the incident occurred, Gardaí are understood to have done a detailed trawl of very good quality CCTV footage which was available in the area.
Gardaí have arrested a man in his early 20s who was charged at a special sitting of Galway District Court in relation to the alleged assault.
He is due to appear at Galway District Court today (Monday) to be charged with assault causing harm, under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
