Extension of water restrictions on Inis Meáin
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council says due to falling reservoir levels it’s extending the restriction of the water supply on Inis Meain.
Water will be switched between 6.00 each evening and 10 each morning from today (25th June) until further notice.
A council spokesperson says they regret taking the measures but there is no other option at present to ensure a supply remains available.
Galway Bay fm newsroom – UHG remains under significant pressure today with 67 patients on trolleys
This is one of the highest ever figures at the city public hospital
It’s the third highest number in the country behind Cork with 70 patients on trolleys and Limerick with 107
Yesterday at UHG, elective day case and inpatient adult procedures were postooned due to pressure on beds.
In Portiuncula in Ballinasloe there are a further 8 people waiting on trolleys
Nationally, 647 people are waiting on trolleys in Irish hospitals today
From Galway Bay fm newsroom- There has been a slight increase in reported incidents of hate crime in Galway.
Last year, 22 cases of hate crime and hate related incidents were reported in the county Garda Division – an increase on the 17 reported in 2021.
Half of last year’s incidents in Galway related to race.
Across the country there were 582 reported incidents of such crimes, an increase of almost a third compared to 2021.

There are over 100 talks organised for the University of Galway’s open day from 9am to 3pm.
