Dunmore traders to meet over traffic concerns

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Dunmore traders are to meet tomorrow (Weds) to discuss concerns over the impact of traffic management measures at Twenty Minute Hill.
The stretch of road at Carrowmunniagh has been reduced to one lane with a traffic light system in place due to safety concerns.
One road fatality was recorded in the location last year, as well as six serious incidents in the last five months.
It’s understood the traffic light system could be in place for 18 months or more as the design and land acquisition stages are followed through.

Public meeting to unveil plans for new school for The Bish

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public meeting will take place in the city next week to unveil detailed plans for a new school building for The Bish.

The project would see St Joseph’s Patrician College relocate from Nuns’ Island to a greenfield site at Dangan.

It’ll be adjacant to University of Galway and a planning application is expected next month.

The public meeting to discuss the plans will take place at the Ardilaun Hotel on Tuesday, March 28th, from 1pm until 8pm.

Speaking to Galway Talks, principal John Madden says the new school is badly needed at this point.

Polish Ambassador to visit Galway this weekend

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Polish Ambassador in Ireland, Anna Sochanska, is visiting Galway city this weekend (24+25/03).

Ms Sochanska is set to meet officials and attend the International Business Forum and Fair in Salthill on Saturday.

The event brings together businesses, entrepreneurs and decision-makers to network and shop for products and suppliers throughout Ireland.

The Polish Ambassador will also discuss student exchange and Polish Green technologies during her visit.

Call for major investment in healthcare to alleviate doctor shortage in Headford

Galway Bay fm newsroom – There is a call for major investment in healthcare in Headford, as the area faces a GP shortage.

Councillor Andrew Reddington has met with Community Healthcare West Chief Officer Breda Crehan Roche, as recruitment has begun to replace a retired GP in the town.

Councillor Reddington says there is demand for a primary healthcare centre in Headford, for people in surrounding areas as well as the town itself.

He states there is a national shortage of GPS and rural areas like Headford are the worst hit.
