A singer/songwriter originally from Dunmore is making a play for global stardom after she was announced this week as the second act bidding to represent Ireland at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
Reylta is the second of six acts hoping to represent Ireland in the contest taking place in Basel, Switzerland in May this year.
Reylta’s song is entitled Fire, and all six Eurosong finalists will compete on February 7 on The Late Late Eurosong Special to determine who will go on to represent Ireland at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.
The singer/songwriter creates music that blends bittersweet melodies with a layered, alternative edge.
Rooted deeply in Irish tradition and heritage—from its poetic legacy to its evocative landscapes and rich storytelling—her work paints a hauntingly unique perspective.
Reylta’s poetic lyrics, lush string arrangements, and evocative harmonies create a soundscape that is both intimate and transcendent.
The Galway native released her debut album, Everything Unsaved Will Be Lost, last year. At the time, she described it as a “macabre lullaby” – but it was acclaimed by the critics, with the Irish Independent naming her “Galway’s Alt Folk Queen.”
She describes her music as steeped in Irish traditions and heritage, combining poetic lyrics, luscious string arrangements, and rich choral harmonies to create a sound both familiar and wholly her own.
The Dunmore native began writing music at just eleven, with musical influences including Florence and the Machine, Damien Rice, and Hozier.
She’s played with an eight-piece band since 2017, and they are an essential component of her work.
Reylta composes pieces, and each player brings their unique style, creating an unmatched synergy. The band size varies, with each member influencing the tone and emulating trad performers with a classic, melancholic folk-pop vibe.
