Douglas Kennedy, youngest son of Senator Robert Kennedy will be in Kennedy Park, Eyre Square at noon tomorrow to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of John F Kennedy’s visit to the city.

In her final official engagement as Mayor of Galway City, Terry O’Flaherty will welcome the Kennedy family back to Galway in the Sculpture Garden..

Fíbín Media to launch new state of the art production studio in Connemara

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway-based production company Fíbín Media is to launch its new state of the art production studio tomorrow (7/12).

The new studio contains 130 square metres of floor space, and is located in Tully in Connemara.

It will offer a new home for Fíbín to create TV shows for young people through English and Irish.

Fíbín founder and CEO is Darach O Tuairisg.

Local addiction counsellor claims cocaine is “blowing a blizzard” in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway-based addiction counsellor, Joe Treacy, claims cocaine is “blowing a blizzard” in Galway.

Data has found that cocaine-use has increased across all age groups in recent years.

Joe Treacy was responding to comments made by local GP Martin Daly on Galway Talks yesterday, who said there is a wave of cocaine in rural areas.

Agreeing with Martin’s sentiments, Joe Treacy, says that cocaine-use is widespread in our communities.

Anger over lack of action on wandering animals on Headford Road after pony killed in collision

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A local councillor is questioning if someone has to be killed before action is finally taken on wandering animals on the N84 Headford Road.
It’s after a car travelling from the Headford direction collided with a pony on the road last night.
While the car suffered extensive damage, the driver escaped injury – but the pony died at the scene.
Councillor James Charity says he made Galway County Council aware of loose ponies in the area as far back as October.
He’s also been campaigning for years for greater action in the area, including fencing and the introduction of exclusion zones for animals.
Speaking to Galway Talks, Councillor Charity says he cannot understand why nothing has been done.
