Donoghue gets four-year term on return to hurling manager’s post

THE return of the Messiah might be stretching things a little, but Micheál Donoghue’s ratification as Galway hurling team manager is a timely boost after a forgettable 2024 season.

Donoghue, who led the Tribesmen to All-Ireland glory in 2017, has been handed a four-year term and will be joined again on the sideline by loyal lieutenants Franny Forde and Noel Larkin.

Former Tipperary coach and manager Eamon O’Shea will also be part of the Galway backroom team having served in a similar role under Henry Shefflin in 2024

Donoghue, who only recently departed as Dublin boss, has indicated that a fifth individual will soon be added to the management group.

His appointment was rubber stamped by County Board delegates in Loughgeorge on Monday night.
