A Dáil debate on diverting young people from criminal activity has heard that East Galway is in desperate need of more youth facilities and supports.

Local TD Pete Roche said young people need to be offered a life to choose, so they don’t fall into crime in the first place.

But Fine Gael Deputy Roche said options in many areas are limited, or even non-existent
