Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardai in East Galway are following a definite line of enquiry into the circulation of fake 50 euro notes in towns in the area
Last week there were two incidents of the high quality fake notes being accepted in the Loughrea area
Yesterday there were three attempts to pass off the notes in incidents in Ballinasloe and Portumna
Gardai in Loughrea and Ballinasloe told Galway Bay fm news that while they are following a definite line of enquiry retailers need to be vigilant

Call for sexual and domestic violence liaison officer in Co Council Housing Section

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council management has been asked to add a Domestic Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Liaison Officer to the Council’s Housing Section.
The motion calling for the appointment of a Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Liaison Officer officer to the Co Council’s housing section was tabled by Independent Councillor, Dr Evelyn Parsons and seconded by Councillor Geraldine Donohue.
Councillor Parsons said that domestic, sexual and gender-based violence is at an all-time high in County Galway.
Councillor Parsons said that key findings from a review of accommodation for victims of domestic violence confirm the need for more refuge provisions.
Councillor Parsons said that actions have to be rolled out to deal with this situation and she called for zero tolerance to tackle what she termed this shadow pandemic of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence within County Galway and throughout the country.
The motion calling for a liaison officer to deal with the situation in the County Council’s Housing section was unanimously supported by Councillors.

From Galway Bay FM newsroom- The Galway public are being urged to give blood as stocks are now critically low.
Donors can visit GiveBlood.ie to register their details and will be contacted when a clinic is taking place in their area.
Paul McKinney is Operations Direct at the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
Speaking to Galway Talks, he says they’re currently at less than six days supply.

Local TD claims HSE are “law unto themselves”

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A local TD is claiming that the HSE are a “law unto themselves”.
Michael Fitzmaurice was responding to comments by a spokesperson for the Consumer Association of Ireland that TDs seem forget about their local consituencies once they’re elected.
However, Roscommon/Galway Deputy Fitzmaurice argues that while TDs don’t always get it right, sometimes it’s out of their hands.
Speaking to Galway Talks, he claims the health service has taken the power away from the politician.
