Decrease in domestic violence reports across the county

Galway Bay fm newsroom – There’s been a drop in the number of domestic violence incidents being reported across the county.
Since January, 76 domestic disputes were reported to Gardaí – a drop of 14% on the figure for 2017.

Two Galway teaching graduates receive top awards

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Two Galway teaching graduates have achieved ‘top of their class’ status at the annual Hibernia College conferring ceremony.

Along with that honour, Spiddal’s Aonghus Ó hEochaidh also received a placement performance award by the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation.

While Mary Corless, a teacher in Scoil Bhride in Tuam, was awarded for receiving the highest grade in the research module.

Both teaching graduates were awarded during their conferring at Dublin’s Convention Centre.

Call for county council to have 24/7 contract to service traffic lights

Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are calls for Galway County Council to have a 24/7 contract to service traffic lights.

Local Councillor Jim Cuddy is making the call after lights at Carnmore Cross were out of order from Friday last to Monday afternoon.

The Athenry/Oranmore councillor claims the temporary flashing lights put in place were “totally inadequate” in terms of road safety.

Councillor Cuddy says having no access to service on weekends is not good enough.
